Summer Camps / Summer Intensives

Diversity will be hosting exciting, energetic and fun summer camps for dancers ages 7+. This summer, Diversity’s summer dance camps will provide classes such as Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Stretch, Stomp, Street Jazz, Bollywood and Drama—just to name a few!

This is a great way to spend a week of the summer dancing, acting, singing, and learning! Dancers are sure to finish the week with a diverse knowledge of different dance styles.

Diversity also offers a Summer Dance Intensive for more serious senior level competitive dancers. This week of dance will focus on technique, jumps, turns and progressions while still incorporating different dance styles and combos. Diversity’s Summer Dance Intensive is for ages 13+.

Exams

Hard working dancers are given the opportunity to complete exams in specific disciplines. Dance examinations are offered once per season and students who choose to participate in an exam are asked to put in extra practice hours. Although optional, exams are a great tool in helping young dancers progress, build technique and work to their full potential.

Diversity offers ADAPT Jazz and Tap exams, and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet exams.

Competition

Diversity Dance participates in 3-4 dance competitions per year. Being apart of “Team Diversity” is an exciting way to take your dance training to the next level.

At Diversity, we believe that becoming apart of a competitive team can be a positive, confident building and exciting experience for all involved. To be eligible to become apart of “Team Diversity”, dancers must consistently show a positive attitude, commitment and dedication in all classes. Dancers must also display above average effort and improvement in their regular classes.

For students to be considered for musical theatre, tap and/or hip hop competition numbers, dancers must be enrolled in more then one class per week. To be considered for any other disciplines such as jazz, ballet, lyrical or contemporary numbers, students must be enrolled in 2 ballet classes per week in addition to the style in which you are competing.

Competition students are required to put in additional time, commitment and effort once competition season begins. Students are asked to participate in competition at their teacher’s discretion.

Year End Recital

Diversity holds year-end recitals to showcase what our dancers have learned over the course of the dance season. Recital is a positive experience for all involved and gives students the opportunity to show off their progress throughout the year. Our year end recitals are held at the beautiful Jack Singer Concert Hall in the Arts Commons building.

WHAT MAKES DIVERSITY’S RECITALS DIFFERENT?

We make it of utmost importance that our recitals are an exciting and positive experience for students of every age! This is why we have 4 separate shows to accommodate our studio. We split our shows by age group – Our “Shining Stars” Show for ages 7+ and our “Super Stars” Show for ages 12+ are approximately 2.5 hours in length. Dancers get their turn onstage with their class(es) and all performers get to be apart of the finale dance at the end of the show.

Although recital is optional, we encourage everyone to participate in this great learning experience. Students who participate in recital are required to purchase a costume and audience members need to purchase a ticket to attend. If you have any questions regarding our recitals please do not hesitate to call our office.
