Year-End Recital

Diversity holds year-end recitals to showcase what our dancers have learned over the course of the dance season. Recital is a positive experience for all involved and gives students the opportunity to show off their progress throughout the year. Our South year-end recitals are held at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in the Arts Commons building, and our North recitals are held at RockPointe Church.

WHAT MAKES DIVERSITY’S RECITALS DIFFERENT?

We make it of utmost importance that our recitals are an exciting and positive experience for students of every age! This is why we have separate shows to accommodate our studio. We split our shows by age group

Our “Tiny Stars” Show and "Mini Stars" Show consists of Tiny Tot & Kinder level classes, and our “Rising Stars” Show consists of all Primary level and Junior level classes, are approximately 1 hour in length. Backstage, students have a fun experience with parent volunteers and Diversity Student Teachers. They get to color, read books, play games and more as they wait to go onstage!

Our “Shining Stars” Show and "Shooting Stars" Show consists of our intermediate dancers, and our “Super Stars” Show consists of all our senior and advanced students. These shows are approximately 2.5 hours in length and include an intermission.

Dancers get a turn onstage with their class, and all performers are a part of the finale dance at the end of the show!

Although recital is optional, we encourage everyone to participate in this great learning experience. Students who participate in recital are required to purchase a costume, and audience members must purchase a ticket to attend. DVDs, class photos and additional products are optional for involved families. If you have any questions regarding our year-end recitals please do not hesitate to contact us.

Summer Camps / Summer Intensives

Diversity hosts exciting, energetic and fun summer camps for dancers ages 3+. This is a great way to spend a week of the summer! Dancers are sure to finish the week with a diverse knowledge of different dance styles!

Diversity also holds a dance intensive each summer for the more competitive leveled student. This week consists of technique and combo classes while incorporating different dance styles. Dancers who are on our competitive team are highly encouraged to attend our summer dance intensive.

Visit our summer camp page for more information on our summer programs!

Competitions

Diversity Dance participates in 3-4 dance competitions per year. Being a part of “Team Diversity” is an exciting way to take your dance training to the next level.

At Diversity, we believe that becoming a part of a competitive team can be a positive, confident building and exciting experience for all involved. To be eligible to become a part of “Team Diversity”, dancers must consistently show a positive attitude, commitment and dedication to the art of dance. Dancers must also display above average effort and technical improvement in their regular classes.

For students to be considered for musical theatre and/or hip hop competition numbers, dancers must be enrolled in more then one class per week. To be considered for any other disciplines such as jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical or contemporary numbers, students must be enrolled in ballet class.

Competition students are required to put in additional time, commitment and effort once competition season begins. Students are asked to participate in competition at their teacher’s discretion. Competitive invitations are sent out via email at the beginning of each season, and dancers rehearse outside of their regular class time from October – May.

Travel

Team Diversity students are given the opportunity to expand their dance knowledge through optional educational dance trips every second summer. These trips are designed to build team spirit, provide one of a kind opportunities to our dancers and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Team Diversity has danced in the Disneyland parade in the summers of 2013 and 2016. In 2019 we took over 30 dancers to dance in New York City's Time Square, take educational dance classes and dance on a Broadway stage!

In July 2023 we returned to Disneyland to again dance in the Disneyland "Dance The Magic" parade and perform in our own show on the main Disneyland stage!

We look forward to providing another exciting travel opportunity in 2025.

Exams

Hard working dancers are given the opportunity to complete dance exams in specific disciplines. Dance examinations are offered once per season. Students who choose to participate in a dance exam are asked to put in extra practice hours outside of regular class time.

Although optional, exams are a great tool in helping young dancers progress, build technique, and work to their full potential.

Diversity offers jazz and tap exams through the ADAPT syllabus and ballet exams through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
